Historical research on the traditional silkworms and silk threads, discontinued with the advent of modernization

Cévennes—a breed of silkworm equal in quality to the finest threads used in the clothing of the French aristocracy. Although long considered European, DNA genome analysis has revealed it to be remarkably close to the Japanese varieties. The project aims to document the historical interactions between France and Japan as well as the pre-modern silk yarns, through video recordings and an exhibition of the reproduction of the yarns.
